CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE
India was placed under curfew on 24 March 2020 in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
In light of the COVID-19 crisis and India’s lockdown, the hardest hit populations include daily wagers, laborers, and homeless individuals who are stuggling to aquire nutritious meals. In response, Dhan Guru Ramdas Langar Sewa has increased our means of distribution by renting 12 additional vehicles and organizing a volunteer-based motorcycle division.
Given COVID-19’s demand, food for approximately 170,000 persons is being made and distributed daily across Punjab to the underserved populations. The daily cost is now surpassing Rs. 600,000 per day, which is more than 3x the usual daily cost of operations.
The Health Minister of Punjab along with Cabinet Minister Sundar Sham Arora visited Dhan Guru Ramdas Langar Sewa to express gratitude toward the organization.
On 13 April 2020, Dhan Guru Ramdas Ji Langar Sewa was recognized by India's PM, Narendra Modi, as a #CoronaWarrior in India's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
